It's the simple things

Dear Pops,

Today has been simple. No crafts, no messy play, no adventures.
There has been no where to be, no visitor to prepare for and (unusually) no chores to do.

Today has been simple. Today has been perfect.

Today it's just me and you kid. No distractions, just us.

I know that you adore our days full of crafts and adventures. But I also know how much you delight in our time spent being silly and spontaneous. And that is what today has been.

A day of dancing in our pjs, snuggling on the sofa and tons of tickles.

I love days like these. Taking the time to stop and appreciate you. Soaking in every smile and every giggle.

Days like today remind me that no-one else will ever know you or understand you like I do. I know every look, every little expression. I understand your confusion, I can soothe your frustration. I know your moods and how to anticipate your needs. I am your Mummy.

I promise I will always know you best. I will always take the time to listen to you, to watch you, to understand you. I will always know how to comfort you, how to soothe your pain and will always be there when you need me.

I will always love you, unconditionally, without question.
