Happy Days

Dear Pops,

We are once again joining up with the lovely Katy and Jenna for their #HappyDaysLinky.

This week has been a bit of a strange one and although it has been a positive week I am glad that it is over.

Daddy went back to work this week. It has been strange getting back into our old routine without him around, our house seems much quieter (even though I am sure its us, not him that makes most of the noise). So that has been a bit rubbish, but this week also gave us the positive of Grandad finally having his operation. He has been quite poorly ever since having a heart attack last July. But now, just a few days after his operation he already seems to be doing much better.

Anyway here it is, our week….

Out and About

We have been making the effort to get out of the house everyday, even if only for 30 minutes. We have managed to do this everyday but one when it was just too rainy and windy.

We have managed to go out on a few walks, you love being able to run for ages and explore and are so fascinated by nature. You like to collect leaves and spot animals, I hope you will always keep this love and curiosity for nature.

We also decided to do some Peppa Pig style puddle jumping this week, this is now your new favourite thing. It’s really cute because you haven’t quite mastered the art of jumping yet, you spring up but one of your feet never leaves the ground. You of course have no idea and get really excited and scream “Mamma I jumping high!!” so funny and adorable, you really do make me laugh everyday.

Other then this we have been out shopping and visited both sets of Grandparents. We spent the whole day at Nana and Grandad’s on Friday.
We went up there to help out as Grandad is home from the hospital and Nana has been really poorly.
We made them lunch and dinner and looked after them and also made them some food for them over the weekend. You cheered them both up as always, you are just too cheeky for your own good.

Fun at Home

For Christmas you got a lot of dress up stuff, your favourite being a Sofia the First dress. Therefore we have spent a lot of the week with your dress up box out and with you dressed as either Sofia or Doc McStuffins.

Along with a Doc McStuffins dress up you were also given a doctors bag. This has been your favourite Christmas present. You use it every day to give your toys check ups, and keep saying “Mamma I have a dia noses!” It makes me laugh every time!

We have also spent a lot of time in the kitchen this week. You have become a bit of a fussy eater lately so I have decided to get you more involved in the cooking process (easier said then done) in the hope that it will encourage your eating and so far it seems to be working. Your favourite thing has been using the bread maker and pouring in all the ingredients, but you also enjoying mixing and just asking questions about what I am doing.

I had a mini triumph with your eating this week too. You have been refusing to eat any meat for the last couple of months, then I stumbled across an Annabel Karmel recipe for ‘Krispie Chicken Nuggets’. We made them together and you loved them and ate loads! I was so happy and thrilled!

We have also been doing a bit of baking this week and made some Jam tarts. You are getting really good at cutting out the shapes. You seem to really enjoy taking part in the cooking process and even waited patiently by the oven for the Jam tarts too cook.

Time for me

On Monday I decided to write a list of 30 things I would like to do before I turn 30 later this year, my 30 before 30.

Ever since I wrote it I have been making a real effort to make the time to work on my goals. One of my goals was to get back into yoga. I decided, bravely, to attempt this while you were around, I had visions of you climbing all over me and hugging my legs mid warrior pose. But you really surprised me and stayed beside me copying me the whole time. So now every morning we have been doing it together and I am ashamed to say I am quite jealous of your downward facing dog. It puts mine to shame!

Lets see how long it lasts before you lose interest in it…

Happiest Moment

My happiest moment this week was seeing Grandad after his operation. Up until he had his heart attack last year he had always been very active. The type of person who could not sit still for five minutes.

After his heart attack he was really struggling and would get out of breath just walking from room to room.

But already just a few days after the operation he is doing so much better, he has that twinkle back in his eyes. I felt quite emotional and as though a lot of worry had finally disappeared. I felt like I was getting my Dad back.

Just so wonderful to know he is now, finally, on the road to recovery. It has made me happy beyond words.

Next Week

We are going to continue to try and get out more and are meeting up with friends. I will also be continuing to work on my 30 before 30

Love always,

Mamma xxx
